The exciting journey behind our upcoming magazine ad
Things have been buzzing in the BA office for the last few weeks! We've been extra busy gearing up to launch our new website and rebranding.
Recently, we were offered the advertising space on the back cover of Australian Modern - A magazine about Mid 20th Century Design. What a great opportunity to launch our new branding and design vision with a splash!
When we first began to draft concepts, we had many hilarious and outrageous ideas - none of which were an accurate representation of BA Creative. Luckily, Pete (our fearless leader and self professed lover of classic cars and classic style), introduced us to this image of George Nelson, Edward Wormley, Eero Saarinen, Harry Bertoia, Charles Eames and Jens Risom - Famous designers of their time:
We were struck by the style, composition and lighting of the image, along with how they exude confidence. Soon enough, we were gathering inspiration from the 50's and 60's advertising industry (scroll down to see some of our favourites).
Making the concept a reality
Once deciding on a concept, we got stuck into organizing how we were going to execute our idea. To achieve a similar classic look from our inspiration photo, we needed some very fancy mid-century modern furniture. Fortunately, Dan Moderne stocks fantastic mid-century danish inspired pieces, and was kind enough to let us borrow some of their chairs.
Once we had the furniture, the outfits and a solid idea of what we wanted, we booked a photoshoot with Hayley Photography, and the rest as they say, is history.
Keep an eye out for our ad on the back cover of Australian Modern - you'll be able to see the tagline we've devised to promote BA Creative!
As promised, here are some other bits and pieces of inspiration we picked up when refining our concept - we hope you enjoy!
